Those driving from France do not need to cross the border into Switzerland.

If you are intending to drive on Swiss motorways outside of Geneva, your vehicle must have a Swiss Highway Vignette, which can be purchased at the border.



Directions to Geneva International Airport (GVA) from the north:

  • The E23 / 25 provides access to Geneva from the north of Switzerland
  • Take Highway E23 / 25 to Lausanne on the shore of Lake Geneva
  • At Lausanne, follow the E25 / 62 west to the city for approximately 80 km / 50 miles
  • The airport is situated off the E25 / 62, just follow the blue airport signs

Directions to Geneva International Airport (GVA) from the east:

  • Coming from the north-east of Switzerland, take Highway 27 to Vevey. From the east of Switzerland, take the E27/62 to Vevey
  • From Vevey, follow the E27 / 62 to Lausanne
  • From Lausanne, follow the E25 / 62 towards Geneva and then follow the blue airport signs

Directions to Geneva International Airport (GVA) from the south:

  • Travelling to Geneva Airport from France, take Highway A40
  • If you have a Swiss Highway Vignette or will be buying one, follow the blue signs to Lausanne / Geneva Airport and cross the border at Swiss customs at Bardonnex
  • From Bardonnex, follow the green 'Geneve-Aeroport' signs to the airport
  • If you do not wish to buy a Swiss Highway Vignette, follow the blue signs for St. Julien-en-Genevoise and exit onto the N201 from Highway 40
  • On the N201, follow the green signs for Geneva and cross the border into Switzerland at Perly
  • From Perly, follow the blue signs to Plan-les-Ouates, Lancy and Aeroport / Palexpo

Directions to Geneva International Airport (GVA) from the west:

  • Travelling to Geneva Airport from France and the west, it is possible to enter the airport without crossing into Switzerland
  • From Lyon, Dijon and Bourg-en-Bresse, take Highway A40 and follow the blue exit signs to Bellegarde / Gex
  • On the D984, follow the green signs for Collonge and Saint-Genis Pouilly until you reach the D35
  • On the D35, follow the green signs for Ferney-Voltaire
  • Just before customs at Ferney, follow the white signs for 'Aeroport Secteur Français'
